    Sounds like a P14-45 moment.

      Period.

4:00am probably would have been with the addition of wifey on the second floor in the window with the AR-15 painting the girls chest with a laser.

Anytime after 9pm gets a .45 in the hand, with a .357 in the bush LOL.

      Have a great Kenpo day

My dog usually wakes me up then its snubby and me to check out the roost. I would never answer the door I would call PD if land line is cut use the cell phone. We sleep with the alarm on as well. I live one city over from Concord on a cul de sac as well.

I keep a .32 stashed within easy arms reach of the front door (gotta know exactly where it is, and you're not going to find it by accident)

my hand's on it whenever I go to the door. I've been thinking about swaping it out for one of the bigger toys, but I need a medium sized polymer gun that can handle being stashed in a place like that.

We had an incident like that in my folks' place. We live in an unincoporated area but pretty well developed and jsut minutes away from the Sheriff's substation. Around 2 in the morning some woman came knocking on our door saying her car broke down. My Dad answered through the door while i loaded up my 870 and looked for suspicious movements outside the windows and the back door. She eventually went away after suddenly saying she didn't need our help anymore. We both saw her getting in a car with at least one other person and drove away. So we called the cops but they never got back to us.

At that time of the day I can only imagine it was a home invasion attempt since you stated your friend saw her signaling someone.

During morning and afternoon hours of the day, I'd say she was checking to see if someone was home if no other signs of occupants are available.

There were two home invasions about 5 years ago in Concord & Pleasant Hill that I read about, there certainly could have been more that I didn't read about.

You friend did the right thing, except for not calling the PD immediately.

There are big flood lights outside my house. Usually the scumbags won't come close to my house at night. And our alarm is always on.

If I do have somebody dare to pound my door at 4:00am, I'd have my Glock cocked with 17-rd mag, hold in hand and carry my M1A (loaded, of course) on my shoulder. Of course I won't open the door.

The guy mentioned in the first post was acting correctly. As for police stuff, just forget about it. The PD never respond to anything (in Fremont).

Your friend did the right thing. The girl was likely from somewhere west of the hills like Oakland or Richmond, and was setting up to rob your friend when he opened the door. I live in the poor part of Fremont and always answer the door with my 1911 after dark. My front door doesn't have a peep hole, but has a glass panel with some wavy type glass that distorts the view to offer some privacy but still lets me see who's outside. This lets me know from the hallway if I need to get the shotgun or if the pistol would be enough.
