    Best Assault Rifle Substitute?

Hey- Moving to CA and it looks like I am legally obligated to get rid of my AK47 and its pistol grip and 30 round mags. I just used it for target practice and for peace of mind in case the world goes nuts and there is need for preservation of liberty. I liked it because ammo was easy to find, cheap to shoot and the gun was super reliable and easy to take apart and put back together...

What is the best substitute in CA?
For cheap shooting, easy, reliable use, max (10rd capacity) and accurate enough.
I'm thinking about maybe an SKS without a pistol grip and 10 round internal mag...
But is there a more powerful option with 10rd capacity and maybe more accuracy?

SKS is the way to go, or you can disassemble your mags and remove the pistol grip off of the AK assuming that it is not on the list of banned by name firearms. The laws have loop holes big enough to drive a truck through.

Depending on what actual AK you have, you might be able to just take the PG off and put a Monsterman Grip on instead. You will have to go to 10 round magazines, but otherwise you may be able to keep your current rifle.

Depending on the receiver you don't have to get rid of the AK47. Either remove the flash hider, pistol grip, and fix the folding stock (if applies) or buy yourself a mag lock. The mags will have to go though

I love the SKS, if you wanna spend a lot more an M1A is a good choice. An M1 garand isn't a bad choice either.

              M1A is a good option
              M1 Garand is another one.
SKS is a good cheap choice

First see if your AK receiver is an off list. The people on here can tell you. If it is you can bring it over with some minor mods.

There are no loopholes. There are only poorly written laws.

Loopholes imply that we exploit the laws' weaknesses. When in fact, we are simply obeying them.

You could a Kel-Tec SU-16CA in .223, or a Saiga in 7.62x39. Both are CA legal because they have no pistol grips.

                      Pump-action AR...

                      If they were available...

would be my choice. Maybe not more powerful, but cheap for sure.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but that would make all our OLLs perfectly legal with all the "evil features" we wanted right?

Just make sure to buy them before you get here so you don't have to deal with CA prices.
