Out of state Transfer from MOM

First off let me apologize if this info is on another thread. I tried to find it but I couldn't.

My mom lives in Nebraska, her boyfriend got her into shooting. She bought a gun and now has buyers remorse. The gun is not on the CA roster. Can she transfer it to me legally? And if so what are the steps?

Thanks in advance for your help..

    Yes.

Contact a CA FFL near you, and arrange for him to receive the handgun. Find out if he'll accept a shipment directly from Mom, of if he requires shipment from an FFL in NE. That's a business decision, not law.

Be sure you understand the fees involved.

    Have a Handgun Safety Certificate.

Have Mom ship the gun to the CA FFL, with a letter saying approximately
I,Mom, give this fine handgun, the Wonderful .37, to my son Lowdrop.

    Signed
    Mom
Be sure the dealer knows to use the intrafamily exemption in the DROS software.

Fill out paperwork. Wait 10 days. Pay fees. Perform safe-handling demonstration. Take home your new gun.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

In your area in Orange you'd probably want to go through OC Armory, T&A Armory, Straightline Tactical, OC Indoor Range, or Rifle Gear.

            +1
All of these shops are aware that intrafamilial transfers are roster-exempt.
I wouldn't try it at Turners... plus it'll cost you $150 in fees.
