By law can a landlord tell you that you cant not have loaded guns in the house?

Serious? I didnt ask for this type of remark. I am in no position to buy a house right now anyways.

        Good question.
I'm guessing it depends on the lease agreement. Check out Nolo Press handbook for renters. Then again I'm not sure if they would cover this topic.
I hope this gets a respectful answer.

Found this pdf on Landlords and Tenant Rights from CA Consumer Affairs. Not a lot of obvious help but there could be something useful in other ways.

Question; Is there a clause in your rental/lease agreement that states firearms prohibited on premises?

A landlord cannot deprive you of your 2nd amendment rights. Your landlord doesn't have to let you stay in his house.

In other words, legally a landlord can't tell you that you can't have a gun, but a landlord can evict you for breaking the lease. If it so happens that the landlord sneaks a "Tenant may not keep weapons in the apartment," you could theoretically fight it in court. Considering most of us don't have the money, or don't want to spend the thousands, to fight someone in court over something so trivial.

If your landlord tells you you can't keep a gun in the apartment, pretend you hate guns and think they're evil, and keep your gun how you like and don't tell anyone about it.
That's what I'd do, but I'm not a lawyer, nor is this legal advice.

The house is owned by the other room mate and her sister in SD, I have the gun at my bedside and she knows. But she says as a renter their is nothing that she can do about it. Now the room mate the lives with me said that if she knew I had a loaded gun (Which it is actually NOT) that she would flip. I told her that NO ONE should be in my room to begin with, the SD owner has 2 young boys and I know she would say that what if her kids walked into my room. If I knew they were going to be there I would put the lock on it just for safe measure but still NO ONE should be in their to begin with.
Oh and I have not actually signed a lease yet, should be doing it soon. For the past 2 years no one had to sign a lease it was pretty relaxed in that regard.

                      For what it's worth...

                      Here's the link... http://www.thehighroad.us/showthread.php?t=146915

Have not found any page on CA Law yet... still looking.

This is getting complicated... I was thinking you are renting/lease a house or apartment. Did not think you were renting a room, a share rent type situation.
I am however understanding that even verbal agreements are binding. You have yourself a situatioon there friend.

I am NOT a lawyer, and so not the one to give you final answers... this just 2-cents stuff.
