Shipping ammunition

Does anyone have a suggestion on shipping ammunition? The ammo is rifle, shotgun, and handgun ammo, and it's heavy, so I'm trying to avoid having to pay an arm and a leg to ship. Anyone here used UPS with good results?
I know the post office doesn't allow ammunition to be shipped, otherwise I would use the flat rate priority boxes to ship my ammo.

Your only two convenient choices are UPS and FedEx Ground. There are more and more reports of individuals having problems shipping ammo via FedEx Ground, with the counter clerks insisting that you need to be HazMat certified. So you might have better luck with UPS. You will need to ship it from a real UPS shipping counter and not a "The UPS Store" franchise. It works best if you print up the shipping label by using your credit card on the UPS web site. You get less hassles at the UPS shipping counter if you arrive with a prepaid label already on the package. You will need to mark the package with ORM-D CARTRIDGES, SMALL ARMS. I made up some PDF pages full of ORM-D labels you can print. There are some other packaging guidelines you need to follow in order for the package to qualify as ORM-D. You have to mark the boxes, but you already knew that. UPS Ground probably your best bet.

everything above, and duct tape the entire box. Get the boxes from USPS since the box will be duct taped.
