Unless I'm wearing them, my eye and ear protection never leave my range bag.
Besides my muffs, I keep spare disposable earplugs in it.

I've got a set of ear plugs that stay in the glove box of each vehicle. I've got two sets of inexpensive electronic muffs that are attached to the range bag, and also keep a ziploc bag of the foams plugs in there as well. So if I forget my form fitting ear plugs, it's covered, and also in case of guests.

Aside from that, it's nice to have a water bottle, sharpie pen, roll of masking tape, and some baby butt wipes in the range bag. If I remember, some of the Costco granola bars or a candy bar or two.
I just add the caliber specific ammo I'm taking to the range and the rest always stays in the bag. Just grab the ammo and bag and hit the road.

Since going shooting usually involves at least a 45 min drive, I maintain check lists for the various events that I participate in. As I load up my vehicle, I check the list for each item and when I get home I add items that I think would be good to include. After awhile, the list is complete and through, and you don't ruin an otherwise good day that is ahead of you. Its a very simple process given that everyone has a computer.

Both of my muffs stay in my range bag. I also keep foam plugs in my range bag, but then those are small and can go anywhere without taking up any space. My glasses also stay in my range bag.

Pretty much all of the stuff I take to the range (minus the ammo & gun) stays in my range bag. Easier to keep things in one place rather than having to look for everything before you leave.

                ^^ this ^^

I also keep some LSA oil, first aid kit, bug repellent, flashlight, simple tools. wipe down rag, stapler, extra staples, a roll of painters tape (for those places that don't need staples).

...and a copy of the range rules.
