A member has just recently contacted me wanting to buy a handgun I have listed for sale. What he was proposing was for us to meet face-to-face and I would sell him the handgun outright; no FFL dealer, no waiting period. In his words, useing an FFL dealer was "too expensive". My question is: should I post this members name so others might be warned? Thanks...

+1 for Ratters...we'll be warned if/when he wants to buy something else. I couldn't argue that using most prk ffl's for a transfer is not extremely expensive for the time involved.

The person he is talking about is me. I did not say that we would not need an FFL. I said that I did not want it shipped to an FFL in my area, because it would cost me much more then if we did the transfer in person. I was under the impression that there were no waiting periods for a PPT, but I must be wrong on that account. He lives in Sacramento, so it makes no since to me why he should only want to ship the gun to an FFL, when he is only about an hour drive from where I live.Comment

All PPT must go through an FFL... And you must wait 10 days...
If he has to ship it, it must be shipped to a FFL. He can not send it to your house... If you meet him in Sac. then you must leave it at the shop and go back in 10 days..

Yes I know that a PPT must go through an FFL. Nowhere do I mention that a PPT is done without an FFL. That was simply a misunderstanding on the part of Gary O, but that is not really the issue here. The issue is that he wanted to ship the gun to an FFL when a PPT is better in many ways. For one, it is much cheaper, and two, I can hold the gun and inspect its quality. I don’t know how many of you would be will to buy a gun only from looking at a digital picture, but I am not that trusting.Comment

More CA misunderstandings...
I'd pay the extra money to not have to drive to Sac twice if I really wanted the gun
but it doesn't sound like you want to drive or pay more, which is understandable as well.

Personally, I would always shoot a gun before I buy it used. But all I can say is that atleast you were honest enough to admit that you were the one who this was about."There are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury and ammo. Please use in that order"

I stand corrected..
Props to Tyler for being a stand-up guy. I was wrong and am sorry. Tyler, I am sorry about this misunderstanding. I have never been involved in a deal such as you were wanting. I guess I jumped to the wrong conclusion....

I'm in agreement. If I were to buy a gun from a PPT, an hour drive to inspect the gun is cheaper than paying HK prices for a Lorcin gun.
Also, are FTF (no papers sales) legal for handguns over 50 years old? Or is that only applicable to rifles?I'm Rick James...Be-otch!!!!
