Do you mean it's a NFA registered MG? Or, just a synthetic stock and duckbill mags?

        Evil features, yes.
NFA items (including SBR and full-auto), not without a $200 tax stamp.

Now that the second pic is up, I see it. It looks just like one I have in California except, I use the OEM mag. The OEM mags are much more reliable than the duckbill mags anyway. Also, I put a bright orange front sight on mine back when I used it as a truck gun on the ranch I lived on.

Wut? How on earth would any of that pass muster as being Cali-legal?

Detachable mag on an SKS? Surely you jest good sire!

OEM MAG!!!!!! The OEM mags are much more reliable than the duckbills and they are not considered "detachable". There is really no benefit to having a detachable mag SKS since, non of the duckbill mags are as reliable as an OEM mag and, it's actually FASTER to use stripper clips to load an EOM mag than to fart around changing bulky duckbills.

Now, if you want a detachable mag on a SKS type weapon in Ca., it can be perfectly legal to do. You just won't be able to have any "evil features" and the gun can not be marked "SKS" anywhere on it. A Yugo 59/66 is a perfect example.

Can you cite this? A Soviet SKS is an SKS no matter how you slice it. The Russians even call it "SKS 45". Yet, the letters SKS appear nowhere on the gun. By that same logic, an SKS from China, Yugoslavia, etc. is still an SKS. Your advice sounds a bit suspect to me.

OP, don't you think it's dangerous to let an orangutan play with guns?

IE: A Soviet SKS could not have a detachable mag in California unless it is a RAW.

"SKS with detachable magazine" is the named lower. If it doesn't say "SKS" on it, it's not an SKS... We simply refer to all SKS-pattern rifles as "SKS", in the same way that we refer to all AK-pattern rifles as "AK##".... but the OLL AK-pattern rifles are not truly "AK##"
