Marketplace WTT posts - etiquette?

What is appropriate etiquette for WTT posts? I can see these becoming an defacto auction, or at least quite difficult to manage.

Any tips/suggestions?

Trade's a trade.... not a sale.
WTT/WTS should be posted as such with the asking price for sale, or the desired trade item.

WTT is trade only. The only way it becomes an auction is if "buyers" try to sweeten the deal by throwing in ammo, extra mags, speedloaders, etc....

I'll just have to give an opinion, and let the other mods weigh in.

If you post a WTT, I will assume that it is possible that you don't know exactly yet what you will accept in return for the item you have available. Let's say you are open to accepting a pile of ammo, a handgun, or a long gun, in exchange for whatever item you have in your posession.

I would suggest your ad asks for PM'ed offers. You can BTT your WTT every 24 hours to ask for more offers.

Over the course of 1 to 2 weeks (as an example) you will gather up a list of all offers you have on the table. You'll go with whichever is most appealing to you.

You'll go back and update your post to state that the item is now gone, and that a deal was struck.

You'll proceed to work out item transfer logistics with the other interested party.

That's kind of how I see it.

I usually just put WTT x item for x item. Money on top of that depending which item is worth more. i usually try to go off market value. My item is worth x amount ued yours is worth x amount used. if its close enough ( within 5$) i dont worry abotu it. Some people do.

I personally see no problem with sending the seller a PM asking if they would consider selling it for a cash amount. The worst they can say is no, but you're asking them privately and not insulting them with a lowball offer, nor are you crapping in their thread.

I've done this quite a few times, and 9/10 times I'll get a response from the seller with a cash amount that they will accept.
