I'm happy to say that I own the #1 gun! Made in 1947 and still shoots true!

Wow. Model 98 should have been #1. And no AR, AK, M1, or 1911? Really?

Even a sporterized 03 made the list. That list is crappy IMHO.

I think you have to approach this list from the hunters perspective.

I agree tho, not such a good list when you call it "The 50 best guns ever made"

From looking through some of the top ones, there appears to be a heavy hunting bias... and no 1911 in the top 10??

Wasn't the AR style rifle listed as the "next best" ? I agree and I am confused...

The magazine is called Field and Stream, what do you expect? The title of the list is also very misleading.

It should be titled "50 best non semi-auto, non-black hunting guns ever".

Definite hunting slant - 80+% of the listed guns were bolt actions or shotguns, and only two based on military rifles (both bolt actions). The title of the article is misleading, but given the publication, the list is not surprising.

2/3 of the guns on their list would not be on my list. They left out to many good guns. It should have been called "The 50 best hunting guns".

Hmm, Field and Stream's list has a Winchester 70 as #1 and the Mauser 98 as #2?

I guess, sure, based on their readership. I would suppose of Low Rider magazine had a "Top 50 Cars of All Time" list, i guess we shouldn't be surprised if the list is topped by a 1964 Chevy Impala.

That would be Glock x's 50.
