    question about getting an ffl

sorry if this question sounds stupid but i just dont know much about it. say if i were to get an ffl, would i legally be able to take out 30 round mags to the range that arent preban, have an evil rifle without a bullet button? etc. or would i just be able to sell these things to out of state owners and LE?

An FFL is not a high cap mag permit. To do what you are talking about, you would need a high cap permit and a Ca. AW permit. To assemble a Ca AW from a receiver, you would need an 07FFL too!

First of all, I'm sorry that you and your parents were not smart enough to buy you magazines when you were younger. A lot of people did just that so, there are people younger than you with legal +10 round mags in Ca.

As far as the permits go, they are issued by the state. I've never tried to get either of them so, I really don't know how hard they are to get. If you have good cause for one, I'm sure it's pretty easy though. So, find and rent a shop, apply for a FFL, apply for all the state and local permits that you will need and/or want and let us know how it goes. You will need to rent the shop and have an address BEFORE you even apply for your FFL and other permits though. Good Luck.

Just being a civilian with no connections will make it hard to come by....you're better off becoming LE if you want to do all those things and not worry about it.

LEOs still have to abide by the law. So, going to the range without a BB and with evil features would possibly be a felony for a LEO! Yep, even LEOs need to worry about following the laws. They are not automatically exempt from them.

Living in Simi, it's not too hard, but it will be expensive.

First, you need a retail storefront.
Then the city will issue you business license that covers dealing in firearms.
Then you go to the DOJ and you can get a certificate of eligibility, high capacity magazine permit and a dangerous weapons permit.
The BATFE will then issue the FFL and you can start doing business.
There are a lot of fees involved and you have to keep scheduled hours with the store.

True, however, it is doubtful that an LEO would be harrassed for having anf illegal AW!

You do not have to have a large capacity magazine permit to buy an sell magazines. All people licensed pursuant to 12071 can buy and sell magazines. You only need a large capacity magazine permit to import them.
