    Free gun case.

I came acrossed a black plastic gun case that is stamped "G. Mcmillan and co". It looks pretty durable and has some nice foam inside but isn't precut. It even has an "air purge valve" underneath.

It has a lot of scratches, tape residue, and is missing one of four latches but will work for what I need it for, carrying guns to and from the range. Sound like a nice find?

Is it safe to store my gun in it for long periods or will rust build up?

As long as it has some padding for protection and you keep your case and firearms away from moisture, it should work fine. BTW where do you find your free gun cases?

Actually, on second thought, it wont work. please ship to me and I will dispose of it for you per B"ak-47"F regulations.

No it is not ok, I'll take it off your hands so you don't have to waste time taking it to the dump!

Haha. Even if I didn't want it, I would keep it around for the coolness factor of it. Actually the dump was where it was going to go. I "rescued" it...

Ok, seriously, take some pictures of it. If its made by Pelican or any major manufacturer, they might even warranty it for you.

It's generally not a good idea to store rifles in a foam lined case for extended periods. the foam acts like a sponge and attracts/holds moisture.

Ding, correct. Still great for range trips/traveling though, and it could be used for storage if you add a desicant. Still not ideal for long term storage though.

Ok, so I kinda posted this to brag a little bit hoping somebody would know what it is, but do you really think they would warranty it? All it needs is a new latch but not sure how they could fix the broken lock attachment shown in the 2nd picture.

Put a desiccator pack inside a sealed case and you are good to go. No outside moisture will get in and any moisture present will be sucked up by the pack.

Where do you buy dessicant pouches? Is it cool to reuse ones found when buying certain products?

Thanks, I was going to call the number on the case but an email is easier.

That's a Pelican case. If McMillan won't warranty it, contact Pelican.
