    Focusing new spotting scope

I recently got a Bushnell spotting scope

And I was wondering why everything looked so blurry. I'm trying to focus on a car across the street and I can barely make out it's red blob shape...what am I missing? I've adjusted the focus knob every which way...

Maybe crank down the magnification to the minimum and see if you can get it to focus there. Most of the moderately priced scopes have real trouble delivering a clear image at higher magnifications.

It's possible the object is too close for the magnification you were at.

The close focus rating is 11 feet. It should focus on an object about 15 feet away. If it will focus at 20 feet it will work for target work. How far is the object? Does it focus at 50 and 100 yards?

The car is across the street, so I don't think the issue is the object is too close.

Maybe it's just a bad scope...? Or I don't know how to use it =/

            Perhaps it's defective

See if the ocular will adjust. Often, spotters use the larger focus knob for fast find, and the ocular adjusts for fine tuning.

It's probably as far as it would be on a 50yard range?
