    Legal storage in the house

What, exactly, are the rules regarding storage of primers and powders in a house or apartment? How many primers and/or pounds of powder? I keep a few hundred primers on the bench and a couple pounds of powder in the cabinet and I tried the search function to no avail.
    Thanks for your help

Couple hundred primers and a couple of pounds of powder, dont worry.

It just your local fire code you have to worry about. Search the ammo/reloading forum. I believe no primer limit and some where less than 28lbs of smokeless powder.

as for storage never say how much you really have. and buy a paint cabinet.
it will allow air in and out with filters, and if the worst happens and there is a fire in your apt building the strong cabinet will contain the pops. making it safe for the fire fighters. same for your ammo collection. guns go into a fire resistant safe. you are on the first floor...right? not all floors can handle this kind of weight.

Only thing I know of is, you can not possess more than 20 pounds of smokeless powder or more than 1 pound of blackpowder [H&S Code 12102].

You need to check your local (city/county) fire codes for storage regulations.

CA Health & Safety Code 12102
This chapter does not apply to any possession or use of 20 pounds or less of smokeless powder, or one pound or less of black sporting powder, provided that:
        (a) Smokeless powder is intended only for hand loading of small arms ammunition of .75 caliber or less.
        (b) Black sporting powder is intended for loading of small arms or small arms ammunition of .75 caliber or less.
        (c) All such powder is for private use and not for resale, and, in the case of black sporting powder, there shall be no gift, delivery, or other disposition to another person.
        (d) The storage, use and handling of such smokeless and black powder conforms to rules, regulations, or ordinances of authorities having jurisdiction for fire prevention and suppression in the area of such storage, use, and handling of such explosives.
