I have always 0 at 50 yards, at what range does the US army recommend to 0 in a reflex sight?

Zero in a Eotech ( what range?)

Based on what a knowledgeable instructor taught at a carbine training class I attended, I zero all my AR optics at 100 yards....for a typical load and rifle, that equates to about 2.25" low at 25 yards, which I can deal with (combat accuracy LOL) if needed. (Not based on bullet drop, based on offset of barrel and optic center).
Zeroing beyond 100 yards makes little sense for most uses of a typical Eotech equipped type rifle, and if you are shooting beyond that you can always learn what to hold-over for the load you are shooting. If I remember right I held over 6" or so for a 16.5" barreled AR shooting M855 ammo at 300 yards.
Haven't shot it over 100 or so yards since. Not many places to do so around here!Barry

I always zero at 100 yds.
Any more than that can be held over very easily. Remeber, the ring is 65 MOA. With a little math, you can easily judge different ranges in fractions of that ghost ring.If you live in the Sacramento area, check your Local Forum frequently to see how you can help restore Gun Rights.

If your optic does not have a BDC, zero according to your height over bore, ammo and barrel length. For my EOTech XPS, I zero at 50y using 55gr SP which will take me out to 250Y with bullet impact ~2 inches.
Have you seen this chart for different zero trajectories for XM193?

I vote for a zero at 100 yds. that way you can always aim higher, if your targert is closer. We did that in training to get a feel for point of impact at targets within 100 yds. Or you could zero a few inches high at 100 yds, so you could be at center mass at 200-300 ydsLast edited by CWUSCG; 06-29-2010, 6:11 PM.

50 yard zero here w/my eotech
so its basically point of aim/point of impact out to 200/250 yards
which is a perfrect battlesight for the eotech imhoComment

25 yds. That is more out of habit than out of any real knowledge that it is the better way to do things. The military always zeroes M16/M4s at 25, whether they have iron sights or reflex sights, so I'm just used to doing it.What do you mean my birth certificate expired?Comment

25 meter zero here. Thats what I've always been trained and you can even see with the chart that 100 meter zero will drop off sooner.Buy my EO Tech XPS3-0!!!
