    GSG jamming problems?

    Hey guys,

Someone mentioned to me that GSGs are notorious for FTL and FTE jamming. Is this true? I'm considering picking one up just for fun range time and wanted to make sure they don't have a reputation.

    Thanks!

I've found that federal ammo works best but I still get an occasional FTF or FTE but only after 100+ rounds....mostly due to the chamber getting dirty from power build up.

      I can't comment about the Gen1's.
But my Gen2 only FTF once out of 100 rounds at most.
      Federals are the ammo used.

        I have a 1st gen GSG5.
        So far...
1000 rounds = 4 FTL (user errors by first time shooters).

This is one of my main (just for fun) plinkers. 1000+rds with probably 10 FTL. But this was due at the beginning when I purchased a couple of MagPro mags. My buddy did the same thing and had similar FTF issues. Stay away from MagPro mags and you should be fine. ATI mags 10/20 & 10/30 work best as well as various bulk ammo I've used (Rem, Fed, Win), & CCI Mini Mags of course.

Great rifle and definitely recommend it.

I never had a problem with it. Using Federal it was no problem. Winchester gave me problems which was mostly due to the ammo not the gun.

The very earlier version I saw had tons of FTE/FTF problems and got sent back. The 2nd generation seems to fair far better.

Gen 1 and Gen 2 are the old version..the new version GSG 522 already has a scope rail built on after HK sued GSG.

I've had two of the Gen 1 models. The Gen 1 models would jam catastrophically due to the bolt head screws coming loose. If you ever have this problem, GSG will fix it no problem and upgrade your bolt to the latest model. It happened really bad to me after 20,000 rounds of the federal value pack .22 ammo. GSG completely swapped the bolt group for a gen III model and the newer design works flawless.

In terms of general jams or failures to fire/eject, I would have to say that these are rare. Then again, I always used high velocity ammo as the manual says to do. I recall a couple failures to fire but I found that the round did not have any primer compound in it, so it was clearly a case of bad ammo for me.

These are reliable guns and really awesome to play with. I highly recommend them if you are a tinkerer and don't mind doing occasional detail strips and replacements of worn parts..

mine FTF when i use the magazine as a forward grip.

as soon as i let go, and re-rack? no issues...

Mine also has issues if I put too much pressure on the mag when shooting.
Also when I used very hot ammo (Anguilla Interceptor at 1470 fps).
Otherwise no issues - sounds like Federal HV ammo is the way to go.
