WTF is wrong with the search function?

Why can't I search for ".45-70, 9mm, .357, .223, .308, .270, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc? It seems like you have to have at least 4 letters or numbers to search any forums. It seems like 90% of the stuff I want to search for is 3 characters. Am I doing something wrong? Frustrated....

yes, the built-in search db is known to be fubar, and it only indexes 4+ letter words. There are plans to implement a 3rd party search system, but that takes time and $$$.

In the mean time, you can use the CGN google search, which may be good enough for you, for now. It is linked at the top of every page on the forum.

I'm afraid that I'm either blind or going insane because I can't find any CGN google search at the top of any page. Oh well, time for bed. Maybe I can figure it out in the morning.

Well that's weird. This is how it looks on my computer. I did figure it out though. If I click the search tab, the Google search is at the bottom of the pull down menu.

no offense but the google search gets kind of annoying because it includes everything: random topics and for sale ads....kinda of agonizing to deal with.
