How many handguns have failed the CA drop test?

I am just curious, how many handguns have failed the CA DoJ's handgun drop test and safety standards?

I was reading through them and they were a joke. If a manufacturer made a gun that failed that test no one would buy it and people would be screaming for their money back.

Some have and then they were modified and/or redesigned to pass. Even the cheap diecast zinc guns like Lorcin, Phoenix, etc. passed. I know because I did a lot of the modifications to the molds on those guns.

I was pointing out to someone how the "safe list" while not being a gun ban, is effectively a gun ban. And parades under the guys of "safety" when in fact it accomplishes nothing and only restricts access to weapons. I also see it as a way to extort hand gun manufacturers.

Correct. This law was based on assumptions by non-gun-knowledgable folks that didn't pan out.

Most of the cheapies passed, and/or were able to be modified to pass.

All it did is add an intrusive bureaucratic layer and raise the cost of doing gun business, which was likely the real goal anyway.

Yep, and succeeded in banning many guns no longer manufactured coming in the state, which I do believe they understood.

Thats it exactly Cal knew what they were doing they are phasing out the legal selling of older guns because a model not made won't get tested and can't get on the approved list.

I talked to an individual who does testing for handgun manufacturers for the drop test. He said that a surprising number of handguns fail the test.

I dropped my taurus tracker 627 on its hammer loaded (on accident). It did not go off.

We won't know how many firearms have failed the test. DOJ told me they don't keep track of the tests that are not passed. The manufacturers won't tell if their gun doesn't pass because of the negative press. Yes, the law makers/anti gun people hoped that none of the firearms would pass but really wanted to keep out the cheap handguns. Funny, they passed too.

I talked to Taurus a couple times about their 1911 and was told they will not be testing the 1911 for CA anytime in the near future. They are selling every 1911 they make and their production is not high enough for them to have any guns unsold. So, as long as they have a back order they will not be testing the 1911 for CA.

The tracker uses a transfer bar. It can't fire unless the trigger is pulled.
