An RPK w/ Spade Grips? Possible?

Remove the pistol grip and make spade grips attach to or out of the stock

Would it be possible? Would it be legal? Would it be practical?

Well, it would be cool to have a semi-auto PKB, a spade grip version of the PKM...

Should be legal, should be only moderately impractical given creative design of a sling. No law says you can't hold a spade-gripped weapon in front of you with a really long sling to keep the front in line.

Now your big question is whether to use a Romanian or Yugo RPK for it... both have advantages and disadvantages in their rear trunion designs.

Although come to think of it, the cheap route would be an AES-10... rather than building up a real RPK. And if you were to develop a mass producable version of RPK spade grips, if you go Romanian you can also use it for just about any AKM out there.

It seems like a monsterman grip would be easier and function better than the spade grips. If it was belt fed maybe, but having to reposition to reload every 30 rounds seems unpractical.

I think I found a possible solution. KNS Precision makes a picatinny rail adaptor to an MG42 AA tripod...

just have to figure out how to modify the AR15 spade grips to fit the AES10...or whatever AK/RPK clone.

There's these little widgets that'll fit onto the back of an AK so that it'll accept AR buttstocks... sounds to me like that'd work.
