    Neighbors house got shot up...

So my shady neighbors two houses from mine had some drama last nite . Don't know all the details as I only talked to the kid (19-20 yr old) for a minute . He said last nite at around 11pm guys rushed in when his dad opened the front door and also shot up the front of the house . I saw lots of fresh bullet holes in the front of the house . Don't know anymore than that but these guys are gang bangers and always have low lifes coming and going from the house .

This was suposed to be a nice neighborhood , houses are 1.5 years old . Thing is I was up last nite when it was going on and with my stereo on at a low level I didn't even know it was happening . I'm 99% sure they didn't even call the cops as I haven't seen any police activity . Wonder why you wouldn't call the police out .

Now I don't feel so weird about always having my Glock loaded nearby .
Two houses away is just to close for this to be happening .

That is a bit disconcerting Shooter, glad to hear you are safe and uninvolved. I'd say call the cops out yourself but if you didn't hear anything you don't have much basis to bring them out. Good on you keeping that Glock nearby though, stay safe. Sort've reaffirms the whole 'criminals will have guns anyway, law-abiding citizens need to protect themselves' argument first hand for anyone in your neighborhood.

I vote for "Keep yer mouth shut and don't get involved."

Why drag tension or risk onto you and your family.

Unless its something you really feel the need to get involved in... I wouldn't bother. I've heard a few stories on the news of reprise attacks on people who told the cops information. Though most of these take place in the ghetto, I say that the rule applies to many areas.

I'm sure your neighbors if not doing anything legal will go through the proper channels. Local police... etc.

If I read this correctly, you didn't notice the shooting while it was going on?

I would say to get involved if you own your house. You saved all that money & bought yourself a nice house in a nice neighborhood. I am a believer that if everyone looks the other way when **** happens, that nice neighborhood would turn into a NOT A VERY NICE neighborhood pretty soon & then a ghetto later on.

Hey, I'm not there & it's your "hood" & money.

Boy, I am glad I don't live near you. How will anything get better if we all put our head in the sand?

This happened in Madera CA (central CA) . I do own the house and would love to sell but the market is crappy right now . To sell I'd have to take a HUGE loss to dump it .

Thses same neighbors have been hauled off by the cops at least 3 times that I have seen . Cops told me before to buy a home alarm and keep an eye out . Just sucks that you spend $300K on a new home and low lifes move in next door and have like 15 people living in the house . UUggghhh .

Think I'm gonna spend some money on a camera system , and more ammo .
I keep at least one loaded gun within 5 ft of while at home .

you know...sometimes crack houses mysteriously burn down. Must be the ashes from their pipes and matches

Are they maintaining the home? If not, do you have blight ordinances that could be applicable?

Is it HOA-controlled? Private HOA rules can be readily enforced - I've had good luck w/mine.

Are parking violations being committed? Are all visiting cars up to date on registration?

Have you strolled by with a long-lens camera?

Maybe 11Z50 down the road can offer some advice...
