    Firearms Import

OK, so it looks like I need an importer to import a couple of guns from the UK.

I thought I could do it through a regular FFL but the process seems completely involved with having to get customs brokers and other stuff that I should probably go ahead and find someone that specializes in this. That is easier said than done. Does anyone know of someone who has done imports from other countries and is familiar with the process?

    Thanks

Sacramento but I am willing to travel. The guns will probably be shipped to SFO.

Good luck. I'd try some of the one-man FFL's. They will likely have to go to SFO to personally pick up the guns. That being said, when I tried to do mine, Huntingtons (Oroville) finally submited the forms. That import never happened though.
Also the FFL does not have to have an import permit as long as he only does an occasional import.

Any FFL01 licensee is allowed make an occasional importation of a firearm for a non-licensee (but the firearm cannot be for resale). The licensee must first submit a ATF Form 6, Part I to the Imports Branch of the BATF. This takes about 4-6 weeks for approval. The FFL then has to submit the approved ATF Form 6 and a completed Form 6A to U.S. Customs.

Some countries will also require you to apply for an export license, before the firearm can leave the country.

Life can make you do many things, even kiss a man with a runny nose.
