Flying with a stripped AR lower receiver

Hey guys got a quick question for you.

I need to fly home to oakland from San Diego tomorrow and I need to take a stripped AR-15 lower receiver with me. Is this legally a firearm that needs to be declared and in a locked case? Or can I just pack it in with my regular checked baggage suitcase?

I didn't say anything about the legality of sending a firearm to myself; I know that is perfectly legal. However, the situation that I am in that is not an option. Thanks anyways

The lower is technically a firearm so treat it like one.

FAA defines "firearms" pretty specifically, which even includes flare pistols.

I honestly believe that it's probably fine to fly with a stripped lower receiver that's not declared.
