    Need to modify a 25 round .22lr mag to a 10 rounder

I have a 25 round SIG 522 magazine that I need to modify to only hold 10 rounds. I know what I need to do, I just need some ideas on what I should use as the plug. It needs to be around the diamter of a drinking straw, but obviously needs to be solid.. It has to be able to bend though because the magazine has a curve in it, so something like a wood dowel probably wouldn't work. Any ideas?

Joking or serious? If you are serious, I don't think a steel rod will be flexible enough.

what you can bend a steel rod? and yes i'm serious. your follower moves with the body and a steel rod will do the same

ohok i see what you are saying. I was thinking something you wouldn't have to bend, but it would just kind of bend itself or form to the shape of the magazine. I could try the steel rod thing though, that would probably work.

see if you can find a brass rod it wont rust and is easy to bend in with a little curve

maybe you can find a cleaning rod that will do or a welding rod for brazing

What about a screw threaded into the side?

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll head to the local hardware store and look around now that I have some ideas. I think a screw might get in the way of the magazine well because the 10 rounds of .22 don't extend down very far. I'll definitely double check though.

so I decided to just stick a screw in the side to block it from holding from than 10 rounds. It works well and looks good, the screw is black so it doesn't really look that noticeable. It's definitely not permanent though since I could just take the screw out, so what should I do about that?

Isn't it considered permanent if it takes tools to remove it?

put some epoxy over the screw head so its like sealed on there, or a dab of JB kwik weld over the screw (dries in 5 mins). that will be permanant for sure.

Also people use rivets since they arent reversable easiliy
