Hi CG Fans, I have a question that I wanted to ask for quite sometime. I have owned my ppks 380 since 1974 and fired it several times. But, it always seems to jam now and then... I've used all different types of ammo. I keep it well oiled and cleaned.. Just kind of worries me because I take this with me most of the time...Any thoughts on this would be appreciated ... Yea just throw it out the window in my neighborhood make sure it lands in the grass. Actually i'll put a pillow in my grass.

I polished the feed ramp on mine, but haven't fired it enough to make sure it's reliable. I never use it for anything anyway so no big deal.

Trade it in for a Bersa.
Seriously, I bought my Bersa because every PPK/s owner had the same complaints. I am very dissappointed that the Walther name does not mean quality. A .380 that now goes for $600 should be flawless.

My PPK shoots well with any factory ammo including Winchester silvertips, Hydra shocks and Corbon DPX ammo. I'd check the magazines first, then have the feed ramp polished. With a little tuning your PPK can be very reliable and accurate.

I'd say about every other clip or every 10 rounds. I also have a 32 pp that seems to do the same? I do notice on the 32 there is not much of a feed ramp. It seems pretty squared off instead of tapered at the front of the chamber. Both the ppk/s and 32pp are in fine condition too.

It sounds like your "jam" is a failure to feed, as opposed to failure to extract or failure to eject?

If it's a failure to feed, you might try other magazines. The way in which the round is presented to the feed ramp is important.

Also, it's important to know how the failure to feed typically happens. Springs that are excessively weak (or strong) can also be the culprit. A weak magazine spring that is unable to push the next round up in line for feeding in time to be caught by the slide could be the problem - another reason to try different magazines. In similar vein a weak slide spring may be unable to push the next round into the chamber with sufficient force. A slide spring that is too stiff may prevent the slide from going back as far as it needs, preventing the slide from properly engaging the next round, or possibly interfering with ejection.

Any one (or none) of these may be your problem. If we can't fix it here, best to take it to a competent gunsmith.
