Information on Springfield Armory

I don't really know if I'll get much of a response, but I figured I'd try anyway. I'm working on a Global Supply Chain Management paper for a management class and I have to choose a company. I figured if I have to, it might as well be something I like so I'm looking into Springfield Armory. I'm trying to get as much information about production, ordering, what is manufactured in house or outsourced? Basically any thing I can find out. If anyone has any information or possibly links to helpful websites it would be really appreciated.

Just call them. Their customer service department is very friendly. Historically they've been somewhat tight-lipped about what's outsourced where, because they're often criticized for using non-US manufactured parts, so don't be surprised if they don't answer all of your questions.

The best source outside SAI would be Lee Emerson who goes by the handle "Different" on m14tfl.com. He literally wrote the book on the M14 and he's got lots of info on what SAI sources from contractors, whether in the US or otherwise.

Any wiki pages are not considered reliable sources for papers. There are some good articles about S&W that I have read in the past. Plus there has been good info on savage arms and there turn around and their production. I have used the info on Savage recently for a paper. Sorry I do not have info on springfield Armory but these are fire arm companies that do work for others in the industry and have good info on them.

wikipedia is a great place to start your research. Provides a basic overview and usually lots of references you can follow up on. If nothing else will give you ideas for googling or other research.
