I take issue with the comment that a small girl can't handle the recoil on a Desert Eagle .44mag >.>
But yes, amusing article.Beretta PX4 Storm .40 S&W (Round Count 3,050) | Yugo M72 | Romy M44

Hmm........I have heard of silencers that do better than 120 decibels, and you have to remember that the decibels is a log scale, so each 10 db is double the energy, so 120 vs 160 is a heck of a lot less.
But "ptew"...........true, never happens.
I think my favorite myth, or least favorite, if it is a myth.......is when the bad guy REALLY gets pissed at the bad guy during questioning and finally racks the slide in anger.........what was he going to do before, throw it?Last edited by paul0660; 06-15-2010, 10:52 AM.*REMOVE THIS PART BEFORE POSTING*Comment

There are silencers that are truly silent (or very nearly)
single shot bolt action rifles with ruberized internals shot through specialized suppressors fitted with wipes.
It's impractical but it can be done....Comment

Entertaining article, even if it's filled with incorrect terminology.

Cool article, they should of included the myth about stopping power, that firearms don't make people fly back when being shot or automatically be disabled.Comment

I was actually hoping for the .50 caliber bullet can miss the target and still rip limbs off myth.Comment

Forcing cone and cylinder gap fail. And that does not look like an 1895 Nagant with a Brammit device either....
I like how the guy shooting the Glock had a stogie.
The machine Ahnuld Youtube clip was hilarious...
This article was entertaining overall...sigpic

Revolver with a silencer. That's funny. Hollyweird.Comment

IF the cylinder barrel gap was reduced to a nearly impossible tolerance, and sub sonic ammo was used... you could get a revolver fairly quiet. Not Hollywood quiet, but a lot quieter than you might normally find.
Truly silenced requires a locked breech, subsonic (or close to it) ammo and a reasonably decent suppressor.
Interesting article, even if it does have some real lulus in it.
ETA: The Mark Wahlberg soda bottle thing actually really will work, if it's done right and with a locked breech (such as a bolt action) .22 and standard velocity or less ammo. It's covered in several different underground books on silencers.Last edited by BigDogatPlay; 06-15-2010, 4:58 PM.

I still hate that they referred to them as "Assault Weapons"
That's one myth that JUST. WONT. DIE. GRRRRR.Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

So what about the pillow over the pistol, so you won't wake the neighbors?
I have seen it in multiple movies where the killer comes in the bedroom and and pops a cap on someone all while placing a pillow over the gun.Comment

Sorry for off topic comment...
But that... THAT would be an AWSOME avatar...!.
