Steel case or Brass case ?

Hay Guys just picked up my new AR and was wondering. Do I go with the steel case 223 Tula from Cabelas or the brass 5.56 from Lucky Gunner ? The Tula is 190.00 for a thousand or 500 from LG for 215.00. Thanks Guys

Steel is fine if you are not into reloading, otherwise go with brass cased ammo as you can collect the brass and sell it for .4-.7 a piece

I'd say steel, just remember to not shoot any brass without cleaning your gun after shooting steel because that's when problems happen. Also, $215 per 500 is WAY TOO MUCH for brass cased ammo, asssuming you are just going for plinking stuff.

Go with the brass...save it and you'll use it later when you start reloading.

If I were you, I'd go for the steel stuff and see how your gun likes it.. (unless you plan to reload later and will need brass). if your gun likes the steel stuff, you can save lots of money by shooting it.

Good call, I personally would stick with the brass for the AR's, steel or whatever for AK's. It may not make that much of a difference, but for a weapon system that can sometimes be a bit touchy with ammo when compared to a big ol' chunk of metal like the AK I would stick with the cleaner brass cased stuff.

I would personally suggest using brass cases if for no other reason then to save for reloading. There isn't anything wrong with steel casings it's just not the preferred casing for the AR especially. Buy cheap brass ammo and later reload it as higher-end ammo (V-Max or Ballistic Tip, etc.).
Unless you have a Dillion or similar setup that can really churn out rounds, it's hard to make 55-grn plinking ammo cost-effective when you factor in your time and effort. For plinking, I'm really liking Hornaday's steel-cased practice ammo.
So I'm saving my reloading time and effort for more exotic/match-grade/lead-free rounds that would be very expensive to buy as factory ammo and buying the Hornaday or other, cheaper .223 for plinking.
