Is there anywhere in Northern California where I can rapid fire my 30-06 semi-auto?

I got the 10 round mags and all.

I really would love to fire the thing like a fricken helicopter mounted machine gun. That would be a blast, literally.

Los Altos has a tincan range that allows 22LR rapid fire. talk to them and they might say yes to a few mags of 30-06 going off in rapid succession

There's lots of BLM land around that allow it. I shoot at Indian Valley Res. near clear lake, also behind clear lake is a good spot if you got good 4-wheel drive. Not shure how close you are to clear lake though

Where exactly is that? I've got a place at Clear Lake I never goto, but this might just be incentive enough.

Do I need to check in somewhere? How do I know if they allow shooting there or not?

Walker Ridge road off highway 20 takes you to Indian Valley Res. its a rough dirt road but most vehicals can handle it, go down the road till you see the fork in the road stay to the right and then find a open place to have fun. http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/ukiah/indianvalley.html

Cow Mountain right behind Clear Lake is a OHV place just follow the trails till you find a place to have some fun. you can have twice as much fun here 4wheelin and shootin in the same place http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/ukiah/cowmtn.html

Both these places are BLM land and not a range so you need to find a place with a good back stop and clean up you mess. The rangers up there are pretty cool and dont bother you too much even if you bumpfire

I've been going up to the Knoxville BLM lands by Clearlake but you need a 4x4 to get in there. There is a designated shooting area that is basically a trash dump. It's a good 2.5-3 hours from SF. Depending on where you are panoche might be closer but it closed down for fire season yesterday.

Hey Redneckshootist, where in the heck is the entrance to cow mountain. After hitting Walker ridge on Sat. morning for a pig hunt my hunting buddy said we might have some luck over at cow mountain and I swear we drove all around that mountain looking for a way in and the only thing we could find is a trail to hike in on of Scotts valley rd.

                    To cow mountain
take talmage exit off 101 in ukaih
                    go east on talmage
when telmage ends take a right
take a left at the sigh that says take left to cow mountain
from there just follow the signs to the different areas

                    Also I always rapidfire there
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) announced. The risk here is that an appeal could lead to an unfavorable Supreme Court ruling, and a legal principle that now applies only to the residents of the nation's capital would extend to the entire nation

You were on Walker Ridge road on sat, so was I. I went turkey hunting at the Pane Ranch and after the hunt I went up to Walker Ridge to go shoot.

In my second post I had a link to the blm website for cow mountain but I will put the link here to http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/ukiah/cowmtn.html

Also next time you go pig huntin let me know and I'll see if I can set up a private land hunt in stoneyford just north of indian valley

Thanks for the info Redneck- I would love the opportunity for a private land hunt. We had absolutely NO luck finding any pigs. As we were heading out on Sun we saw about 10 of the little suckers amongst the cattle on private property

I've been able to find them on walker ridge but its rare and its usally just as they are crossing from private to private land. Sometimes I will sit close to the road and shoot as they cross in the early morning hours Also south cow mountain I usally see more on the public land but you have to catch them at sunrise there too
