How often do you shoot and usually how much?

I try to visit the range at least one time a week and usually around 200 rounds of 9mm through my glock. This is an expensive hobby.

There was a time when my 10-15 yard groups from a pistol were 1.5 feet wide. I "forced" myself to shot 100 rounds at least once a week. In a matter of months my groups where the size of a quarter with the same gun and the same ammo. I thought it was like riding a bike so I started to slack off and only went at the most once a month. My groups opened up again. Not as big as before but maybe to 6 inches. Personally I need to shoot once a week to stay on top. I still shoot once a week and its been over a year since I have stuck with it. Even getting out with my .22 pistol helps if cash is tight.

If you have a nice backyard, buy yourself a nice match air pistol- they can shoot pencil-eraser sized groups, and you can freshen up anytime. It's possible to shoot them indoors too with a good backstop, just don't miss

A Feinwerkbau or RWS target pistol might be just the thing.

I like the air pistol idea, but check local laws, many cities will not allow use of air guns.

I shoot around 200 .22 rounds a week, and then 50 9mm, just untill I get used to the gun, then I am going to do maybe 100 9mm rounds, and less on the .22

Not nearly often enough. When I go though, I usually take a good ammount of ammo.

Monday I took 400 rounds of 5.56, 250 rounds of .45, 200 rounds of 7.62, 250 rounds of .40, and somewhere around 200 shells of 12 gauge, assorted 00 Buck, tactical 00 buck and bird shot..

Oh, and FYI: don't shoot M855, 7.62, or .500 S&W at a spinner rated for "up to .45", turns it into swiss cheese in short order.

I'd like to get a .22 plinker, or even a 17 HM2, so I can buy a 500 round brick for really cheap.

I used to shoot at least once a week around 150-250 rds. total. The low round count is because I spent most of that day b'sing with the guys. Now its been likely just once a month...... Still teaching my girlfriend how to shoot, she's getting better with the .22 so far

as a fellow DJ, i gotta sympathize with the need to balance between purchasing ammo and music!

for me, i dedicate the 3rd weekend of every month for shooting. i'd like to do more, but don't really have time to drive out a bit more than an hour every single weekend.

so for a monthly session, i'll typically go thru 200 rds of 7.62x39, 40-60 rds of 7.62x54, 100 rds of 12ga birdshot, and a little of whatever friends bring. i'd like to shoot less ammo at a time more often, but do what i gotta do.

I try to go out shooting at least once a week. At an outdoor range, I usually fire the following types of rounds: 25 rounds of .50 BMG, 50 rounds of .308, 100 rounds of .223, and 40 rounds of slug or buckshot.

This is an expensive hobby - much more so than my other hobby (golf).

I don't think you'll have a problem in your own yard. What cities ban airguns?

My city, Newark, bans anything that discharges a projectile (this would include anything from a slingshot to a spitball launcher).

9.56.010 Dangerous weapon defined.
For the purposes of this chapter, "dangerous weapon" means any air rifle, B-B gun, air gun, sling, slingshot, or other instrument or device designed or intended to discharge or capable of discharging a missile of any kind. (Ord. 153 § 1, 1979)

9.56.020 Shooting within the city.
Every person who shoots a dangerous weapon in the city is guilty of a misdemeanor except:
A. If said shooting takes place on a lawfully operated shooting range, which shooting range has been approved by the planning commission and which operates in accordance with safety regulations approved by the chief of police;
B. A peace officer in the performance of an official duty. (Ord. 153 § 2, 1979)

Of course, nobody would know unless you missed and hit a window or something. My guess is that most people have no knowledge of this law as well.

I bought a Browning Buckmark Camper and really like it. I shoot matches with it and it holds up very well. At 25 yards it will shot just over an inch group with 50 rounds per group.

I fabricated a one of a kind mount for this gun too. All the mounts on the market use the frame and barrel as a mounting point. To clean this gun you must remove the top mount. I mounted my reddot on the barrel only which does not need to be taken off and because its mounted to the barrel I can do a full brake down of the gun and it will always hold zero. It also has the same grip and feel of a 1911. Here is a pic
