Took my boys shooting for first time

This weekend I took my boys (they're 6) to the Sports Fair at Raahauge's. I wanted to use the Sports Fair for their first range trip because I wouldn't be shooting and their would be lots of help other than me.

The first stop was at the Ruger tent so they can shoot a 10-22. They all point to the same gun and say, "We want to shoot this one." They were pointing at the SR-22! So that was the very first gun they fired. Nolan returned from the firing line a little upset. When I asked what was wrong he replied, "I wanted to shoot more. A lot more!" The woman at the front of the lined said, "Watch out for this one" as she pointed to Jack, "Did you see him shoot?" He was pulling the trigger as fast as he could.

When then headed over to the FTA set up. They wanted to see the "bad guy" robot (why else would you should a robot?). There were no lines so we paid to shoot the GSG-5. Although the helper was trying to teach them to aim, all they wanted to do was pick up brass or shoot. And again, Jack was shooting as fast as he could pull the trigger.

I was very happy with how things went. In all, we spent less than 90 minutes at the fair. I did see the Calguns booth. We didn't stop, but it was a very nice set up.

Was your kid the one that shot the 30mm cannon? If So I got it on video it was the coolest thing ever watching that kid pull the string on the cannon and not cry.

What a great experience for a kid(s). Good choice on the event too. That will be a day they will never forget!!

I take my boys every other weekend if I can. Start them early and they will learn to love the sport!

I take my kids shooting. Boy 7 and a Girl 13. Boy shoots 22. girl shoots 308, 223, 7.62

I plan to take them out as often as practical....and then some. But I have been a little worried about taking three 6 year olds to a range. I'm worried about trying to control the kids, the guns, etc. This was the perfect event! I have been waiting do take them since they were born!

Awesome. I like how Dad is right there with hands on the gun, totally in control of the situation. Safety First.

My boy turns 4 this month, and we are celebrating by going to the local range to fire his .22 rifle for the first time. With his attention span we'll plan to be at the range for only about ten minutes.

Love the first boy! he's a lefty like me!! hhahaha. When they grow up they can be partners in a squad. A lefty and a righty makes a deadly force to recond with!

Great pics, I cant wait to take my boys but my oldest one is still a little wild to go yet.

Kudos to you as a dad for showing them how to shoot. I never forgot when my dad took me at 5 years old. One of my most fond memories.
