how do i reprogram a gun vault mini

    Hey
I traded a gun for a "gun vault", I think it's the mini,it it has to 4 finger codes, and a key on the side if your battery dies. no lights on the inside, no ac adapter. It isn't the one that takes a finger print. The guy didn't have the owners manual and I am stuck with his super basic combo, I would like to change it. Does anyone know how? I already checked youtube with no luck.
Also whats the easyest way to mount it? doesn't look like my drill is gonna fit in this thing and if i bolt it to the ground I probably can't go from the ground into the safe.

    Thanks in advance!

There is a button on the inside that you push and do the old, then new then the button again it beeps or flashes to tell you it is done. Can't remember exactly but something like that.

I have one. Push and hold the inside button. Unit beeps and turns red (I think red). then put in your code. press button and hold again. Unit beeps and turns green to tell you it worked. Then try it (make sure you have your key in case something goes funky.

        Manual should be here:

Here is my favorite way to reset a GunVault:

              Description:

GunVaults are a brilliant design with a fatal flaw. If they are exposed to a static shock while plugged into an AC adapter they reset to the factory default combination. The first one I had not only reset, but opened itself and actually started smoking. I sent it back and they seemed to have fixed that issue. But three units in a row that I have had reset themselves if shocked and GunVault does not appear to be fixing this issue. I've waited a long time to see if they respond to the issue, I've sent repeated e-mails, and I've spoken to GunVault reps about the issue. I'm not generally the type to spread this sort of info, but I can't trust this product, and neither should anybody else. Until this issue is fixed and only if GunVault replaces the units I have will I consider doing business with this company again.

The step are simple. I demonstrate that the default passcode doesn't work, then I demonstrate the passcode it is set to. I shuffle my feet and touch the case giving it a shock (it was dry and windy at the time). Then I demonstrate that the passcode I set no longer works and the default passcode does. I then repeated it on a second unit so that it is clear that it isn't just this one unit with a problem.

The noise in the background are birds.

As long as my kid doesn't read this post, no big deal. It isn't like that gun vault is going to really stay bolted to anything I have it bolted to if a real burglar comes in.

I have pulled my batts and it did not reset the code. Now that was a quick in and out so it may change if you left them out for a longer duration of time. Like Wes said, mine is to keep little fingers away not to keep bad guys away.

Obviously any burglar would just walk off with the whole thing. But, on a dry day, little fingers can reset the combination. That is why I was concerned with the issue.

my gunvault broke...TWICE.. the little string or whatever that pulls the latch snapped. The second time aroudn I called them since they are local but they never returned my call.. I still use it but use the key... the key work totally seperate from the string and motor system so luckily I can still open it. Just can't open it fast now and have to fumble with keys.... crappy product. I think that American Security that uses a mechanical system is much better since no batteries to go dead and nothign like this to happen.

What? A dry day? I guess if it somehow got reset I would have to resort to using the key to open it. Not a big deal IMO as long as those little fingers are kept safe.

I am not defending the product but, anything can/will fail. Especially an electronic device. Thats the reason I keep the key close at hand, JIC.
