Going to Lake Almanor next week. Any free, open to the public places to shoot?
Just plinking with .22lr- any ranges that are open to public and not to expensive? Thanks Calgunners

The only range I know of near Chester is in Susanville...about 45 minutes away. I've never been there so I can't comment on it. Susanville has a prison so it's probably frequented by CO's.
Chester is surrounded by National Forest...why not just go out in the woods and shoot?
I would take you to my spot but I'm at the far end of Plumas county. Almost two hours away.
By the way, try Cast-Masters, yellow and black Rooster Tails and broke-back Rappalas in Almanor. Good luck!

Probably not free, but I also found this one: "Westwood Rifle & Pistol Club, 12 Firland Dr., Westwood, CA 96137. 916-258-2489"

Ya I would just find a dirt road and drive a ways down it till you find a nice clear cut. Theres plenty of areas you can just drive way out and plink a bit and no one will bother you.
