How do I get a sub compact pistol in CA?

Anybody know how I, as a civilian, can get a sub compact pistol in Cali? One along the lines of the Ruger LCP or Kel Tech p3AT. . .

IF I cant, does anybody know what the smallest piece I can get is? (Ruger LCR)?

      1. Make sure its on the Roster (or find someone willing to sell you one via PPT)
      2. Fork over the cash to a deserving FFL
      3. Fill out the paperwork and wait the excruciating 10 days

      Done.

        sub compacts

If you want the LCP Kel Tec, then you will most likely have to wait until a LEO wants to sell theirs. I bet that within the next 2 years a few will end up on the market at much higher than MSRP. As for right now, you could look at Seecamp which is a little higher in price but the same size as the LCP, or the LCR which is very small as well. Also, you could try the Kahr PM series. They are a little bit bigger but you can carry 9mm or even .40s&w.

+1 on the Kahr PM series. I just got one in 9mm a couple months ago and it's a very nice gun.

KAHR P380 will be available soon:

I've own a LCP (found it on Calguns marketplace), and have shot both the Taurus .380 and the Kahr. IMHO the Kahr is the best subcompact .380 out right now.
I plan on purchasing a P380 down the road but I do love that little LCP, just wish it had better sights. However, with practice and a Crimson Trace Laser guard I have gotten incredibly proficient with it.

I bought my P3AT here. Just keep watching the for sale ads - they're not that uncommon. You will be buying it from an LEO most likely. The price will be marked up a bit from retail.

You go buy one. There are plenty of new and used sub compacts for sale in almost every gun shop in Ca. The city of Los Angeles is the only city I know of that bans the sale of them.

The city of LA. But you could just goto another city within LA county and buy all the sub compacts your heart desires!

Every gun store I've been to (all four of them) has had used Baby Browning .25ACP pistols in the $200-400 range on consignment.

If that isn't sub-compact then I don't know what is.

Kahrs have just never felt right to me- even the P9s are a little weird/boxy-feeling. I'll have to keep hunting for an LCP PPT.

Simple, Look here on Calguns in Marketplace->Private Firearms Sales, and be patient. Great deals here... just take your time and you'll find them.

Buying from a private party is just much simpler, more affordable, and no having to worry about that silly roster.

Kimber ultra. .45 goodness. That and a Kahr PM9 and you'll good for all occasions and attire!

only thing smaller than an LCR (or LCP) would be a derringer.
