Anyone carry a Taser?

A Taser's not a very practical carry weapon, or a practical defensive weapon, for that matter, unless you're taxpayer funded with the mantle of authority.
- It's very expensive to practice with, as carts run about $30 each, and you need to practice with your carry weapon.
- They're only good for one person. 2 or more bad guys? Sorry, you can only control one of them.
- They're ineffective against heavy clothing, particularly leather, depending on the range and angle of barb impact.
- It's bulky and even bulkier to carry more than 1 or 2 reloads.
Now, back to the original question - does anybody carry one?sigpic

Side note: Ive never been shot with a tazer but the M26 is junk and the X26 will lock ya up if it makes contact...IF it makes contact. The newer models have a LED readout on how much life they had left buit the older setups were junk because folks pulled the trigger to see if they were in working order so they really didnt have a way to test them unless you had a volt/ohm meter.
Once again, Im just taking this froma buddy who has seen them work in the LA jails and out on the streets of LA county. The one guy they got with teh X model "locked up like a chunk of firewood"....after the darts finally made contact (one was stuck in a pack of smokes in his pocket and another was stuck in the thick denim area around the pockets of a pair of jeans. but the one near the pocket finally touched and the guy went down and sounded like that lady back east who got tased in her car....sorry I dont have that video.

Looked clean to me. She was given commands which were reasonable AND repeated. She didn't comply so she got the sting. If I were there, I would have no problem being a witness FOR the arresting officers. I have been tazed(no I wasn't being arrested, I wanted to know what it felt like), it sucks but I didn't cry about it. I'm pretty sure I was tazed for a longer duration that she was...Comment

I've carried one for about a year now. Very bulky, you need a jacket or heavy coat to conceal it properly (which isn't a problem in my area). The handiest part about Tasers is that you can use them in situations that you can't use a firearm.
I once used it in a defensive situation where my friend was being attacked, dropped a 7" guy on coke like a pile of bricks. Problem was, we had to get the heck out of there after he went down, because unlike a gun they get up unless you pull the trigger again. Cops came, arrested him, end of story (I'm simplifying this a bit, but you get the picture). In the end, it may not have saved my friend's life, but it did save him from a serious beating.sigpicComment

Dude, you tasered a GNOME?!? Rock on! 7" is inches, I think you meant 7'.
I wouldn't bother pointing it out, but... the thought of two guys tasering a gnome and running away before he gets back up is too funny not to comment on.
