    Just killed a possom!!!

Just killed a possom in the garage my son was getting dog food from the
garage and all i heard is what the hell is that.
I found a good sized possom on my ladder next to the washer, i tried to
get it to move with a broom it would budge.
I went and got my Gamo pellet gun shot it a couple times nothing, i thought
because i was so close i was missing with the scope so i just eyeballed
it took 5 shots to kill that ugly beast.
Now my wife gonna be pissed i got blood on her sweatshirt, that teach
her to leave the garage cracked open to cool on the garage.

Good job. Possums are scum, although not as much as rats and gophers. If possums didn't infest garages, sheds, and stopped eating avocados off the trees, they wouldn't be so bad. Better that it died in pest control than as a road smear that no one cleans up until a week later...

CCI CB longs in a 22 are much more effective than a Gamo and they won't disturb the neighbors.

Have you ever actually looked at Nancy Pelosi?

I got one yesterday too .... hate the dang things. It was in a trashcan we keep used cat food cans in, I put a lid on the can, went and got my Gamo, gave it a shot of .177 goodness in the head, then since it was thrashing a bit, another. Came back after putting the gun away, stuck it in a bag and in the trash. Good riddance!

Now that cat food cans have blood on 'em but since they're steel they go out with the recycling anyway.

I've had opossums in my garage and basement, I always find a way to trap them in a rubber-made tub or trashcan and let the poor things go. Never done any harm to me or my pets, but I guess I'm just not as much of a man as the OP

I have humane cat traps for the feral and domestic cats dumped around me. They also work on possums.

Possums aren't vermin. They can be pests. Hardly dangerous since they avoid contact if possible. But trap them in a garage and strangely enough they object to being whacked around with a broom...

Again Moderator can we move this? Not even remotely gun related other then the OP compensating for his very small personal firearm...

I would of prefered not to kill it but it would not move and my dogs were
going crazy, plus wife was going to work in 3 hours and would not go near
                            the garage.
Sorry about putting it in gun discussion i was not sure were to put thread.
I also beleive you should kill an animal to eat it, unfortunatly he did not
want to move and i have my wife and daugter and pets to watch out for.

Be careful with headshots on possums. They have this little tiny brain case thats deep within the actual head. Directly midsaggital there is this hard thick ridge of bone that's too much for any pellet or CB cap to get through so you have to hit them maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch to either side of the midline through the head. Even then the pellet still needs to penetrate a good half inch of meat before it even gets to the skull. It might be better to just try for a heart shot or sever the spinal cord. It's not like the things move too fast for you to take your time and aim carefully.

As for myself, I stopped shooting the things when I found out that they eat snails and slugs in the garden. I let possums hang around and get more lettuce, chard and squash to boot.

I also have to agree with a previous poster that yes, Nancy Pelosi is indeed fuglier than any possum or armadillo, even one that's been dead for a week.
