    Countries with "right to carry"?

Anyone happen to have any resources with listings of countries that have generally good firearm laws? In specifics, right to actually carry a weapon.

Just racking my brain, I don't know of any First World countries, besides the States, that have a good % of normal people in their population legally carrying, or at least legally able to carry, even if they don't exercise the right. But I'm far from a scholar on this subject.

I know there are some poorer countries where it's not uncommon for some of the populace to arm themselves, whether it's legal or not.

Going on old accounts and memories, but I think pretty much every home in Isreal and Switzerland has a gun in it. Not sure about right to carry.

Israel is the only one I know of......and they have to because they are flanked by terrorists.

Switzerland you can carry your rifle wherever, but these are also supplied by the government.

Israel is also cool with this.

Israelis pretty much all have weapons at home(every male serves 3 yrs. active duty and reserve until age 50 or thereabouts) but anyone carrying on the street has a license and is either military or a guard. Generally the public does NOT have a right to carry.

            Wow

According to Wikipedia (not the most reliable source of info, so take with a grain of salt)

Generally, handguns in the Czech Republic are available to anybody above 21 years of age (18 or 16 years in some cases) with a clean criminal history who passes tests about gun laws and weaponry and the medical inspection (which may optionally include psychological test). The gun ownership is also acceptable for self-defense purposes. Unlike most European countries the Czech gun laws allow its citizens to carry a concealed weapon without having any specific reason.

but besides the aforementioned Israel & Switzerland, nobody else can really carry

Actually Israel has very strict gun laws for personal ownership. They are much more lenient when you are in the IDF with your service rifle or sidearm.

From what I read a while back, Argentina has the most free gun laws in South America. Not sure what that entails though.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

It's not Argentina that has the most free gun laws in South America, it is Bolivia, on account of it pretty much having NO gun laws. Carry to your hearts content, even if you are a foreigner. They don't care. It is difficult to get a CCW permit in Argentina.

I do know that in Namibia, anyone who has a firearms license also has a CCW permit, since they are one and the same, and a license is pretty easy to get. It is hard for foreigners to get a license that covers handguns and it is hard for them to get handguns imported. Long guns are much easier. Open carry is illegal, though, and your weapon has to be comletely concealed; out in the boonies open carry is okay, long gun or handgun.

I do believe Switzerland has a system/process for carry permits, but I don't know too much about them. I know they aren't the easiest thing to get, but I don't believe it is that hard, either. Like with many countries, I think they also have a policy of foreigners need not apply.

South Africa has reallt tightened up since the fall of apartheid, especially since 2004, so I think it would be a bit difficult, and this would be even more the case for foreigners.

Mexico has tightened up considerably and it is extremely hard for a foreigner to get a carry permit there or even import a handgun at all.
