Since when did the word "build" imply skill? If so how come everything says "made in China" today?

I think you are confusing the word "build" with "design"

Actually, diction is about the clear and proper pronunciation of words.

I think what we have here is more of a Vocabulary Nazi.

Using 'build' implies achieving a greater work than 'assemble' which reflects the feelings of those creating ARs. It feels like a great work and an accomplishment, not merely putting parts together. Using 'build' also establishes one as part of the inside group, one of the special ones who knows the secrets and joys of AR creation.

I say use 'build' and hold your head high!

I have never claimed not to be, but I had a feeling that name calling might occur when merit ran out.

Meh... I've been called worse by better.

"Build" and "Assemble" might be synonyms, but not in every case. And certainly not in this case.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why someone had to resort to name calling........

On another note, here's what bugs the heck out of me......

The injudicious use of multiple periods after every sentence............

              Or fragment thereof..............

When one will do just as well........

              Like this.

It doesn't have much to do with diction but it's a digital equivalent of the screeching of fingernails on a blackboard for me.

                Yeah, that's bad.

The worst though, the very, very worst is "Shottie."

I would rather hear someone say "Frisco" ten times than hear someone say "Shottie" once.

My ARs were built on 80% lowers that I drilled and milled. Can I count it as a one that I built yet?

Me thinks a little less time indoors on CG and a lot more time outside shooting their "assembled" or "built" guns would do wonders for some people

Some people just don't want to know how heavy or unwieldy their ARs are so they sit around and post pictures instead.
We can tell they finally shoot them when they come back asking about the sproing.
