    Anybody else through with gunshows?

Just got back from Del Mar and I can safely say that this is likely my last gunshow in california. I thought it opened at 8 so I got there at quarter after and there were already two long lines just to get in the building. It would be one thing to wait in if there were some smoking deals, or hard to find ammo, but for $20 just to walk in I didn't see any prices or items that came close to either. A box of federal HST would have made me happy but that didn't happen.

Then you have the hoards of cheap chinese 'tactical gear', useless crap like fake swords and fake crystal glassware, and then the morons who incessantly have to operate the stun guns and its kind of a massive letdown.

And whats with the dressup crowd? Is it really necessary to don riot gear to walk a gunshow? I expect to see a fair amount of people accomodating their agent orange fantasies, but an 1870's cavalry outfit? Really?

As someone who has been to several gunshows in free states, this is the only place I've seen this and frankly its mildly creepy.

I find that they are a lot of fun, and entertaining, but not really good deals on stuff. The Internet is the 24 hour gun show with the best prices.
However, it is fun to look at and touch stuff. Cant do that on the net!

I think I am finished with CA gun shows as well. Last time I went was only for some .22LR and that will be the only reason I'll go back. I did enjoy the Tucson show a lot, the Las Vegas show was decent but made the CA shows look like crap.

I still find pretty decent ammo prices at CA gunshows which is the main reason I go. As far as other stuff go's it seems like a lot of vendors are trying to pass off crap airsoft accesories as the real deal. You can find good deals at gunshow's you just have to do your homework so you won't get fleeced.

Last year I swore to never go back to a Crossroads show, but what do you know this week I ran out of RL10x, so there I was in line at 8:20 this morning. Another hour in the powder/primer line and I had what I needed. Powder and primer prices pretty much matched online, and I figure paying the mafia to park, and the $11 entry was better than hazardous shipping fees.

There was one idiot in his vietnam army uniform yelling "kill all muslims" in the line to get in - everyone ignored him and he soon shut up. I also wanted to get a quality red dot sight, but everything inside was cheap chinese junk, so I guess I'll be visiting Midway online afterall...

Based in what I have read and seen. The del mar gun show is probably the worst of them all.

some occasional good deals on ammo overshadowed by the price of admission and expenses of travel. i am sure i will go again but not anytime soon....

last couple of times i went to gun shows I didnt get anything. Pretty much a waste of 14$ entry fee. Gun prices were high ( way better deals on here) IF you want to go sell a gun then yeah a gun show is the place to do it. i sold a SKS at the last gun show.

I started attending simply to help man the Calguns booth. Before joining Calguns, I hadn't been to a gun show in a decade. However, we're trying to look at other events to spread the word, so stay posted to the Chapter areas.

I'm with the OP...not sure why I keep going. After paying the admission price, the cost of ammo isn't that much different than Wally World. Then having to carry a couple of cans full of ammo back to the car seals the deal.

The only reason I go to gunshows is to look at and feel the guns and get ideas of what to buy on gunbroker.

I went to the Paso Robles gun show a week ago and thought it was ok. I did see PMC 9mm for $9.50/box or 185/case. Lots of C&R and a few black gun vendors. I think that it was worth the $9 admission.
