5.7 FN rifle from 22WMR rifle makers?

Since both cartridge's ballistics and dimensions are very close I think it can be done with small change over in tooling. I don't know for sure though.

I wish some manufacturer would make semi-auto rifle that shoots 5.7 FN, other than FN90.

I believe Ruger 22 WMR will be good flatform for it. Or any other reputable brand. As long as the price is reasonable and it is reliable.

Then again it will be a center fire so no fun stuff can be attached to the rifle.

    Just a thought.

I had been thinking that this would be a good round for a small light walking rifle for prarie dogs and rabbits. I have no idea as to the cost of ammo but I think ot would be something to see.

Rhineland arms was in the T&E of this. It took the FN90 mags attached to the top of the upper and ejected shells through the open mag well. Pretty cool but I haven't seen any for sale.

is it that much more advantageous over say .17hmr?
Good point, since rimfire can be modified heavily with very little restriction 5.7 rifle might not fly in CA. But I thought it was neat to have different cored bullet choices.

I wanted know if the whole rifle, not just upper, can be made under $400 for general plinking usage. Much like 10/22.

Rhineland Arms was making a 5.7 upper for the AR, but they've since stopped selling any product and only do R&D.

it would prob be better to find a centerfire rifle with similar bolt face dimensions and rebarrel to 5.7FN. With a rimfire, it would need a whole new bolt assy wouldn't it? think of the diff in firing pin and extractor.

FYI, there used to be another 5.7- the 30carbine necked down, called the 5.7Johnson. Might be time to revive this caliber with all that CMP M1 carbines float'n around
