    Bore cleaning.

I used to think I did a pretty good job cleaning my guns, until today when I went to clean my 1911.When I thought the bore was clean I looked inside and noticed a dullness between the rifling.I then scratched at it with my cleaning rod and it is like carbon build up.So I am still scratching at it running a wire brush with Hoppes #9 on it trying to get it really clean.Maybe I need to try bore shine.

The secret for me is to use a solvent like Shooter's Choice bore cleaner and let it soak in the barrel for 30 minutes. Then I run a brass brush through it followed by patches.

I use Wipe Out, it's a foaming bore cleaner that I leave in overnight to help work on the build up of residue. Try letting your solvent soak, let the chemical action help you so that you don't need to go so heavy on the elbow grease.
