    Shipping Rifle

    Hi,
I need to ship my rifle back to the manufacture. I have the original gun box and was wondering how this would work. Can I myself ship to the manufacture? Or does it have to go from a FFL? It only mentions handguns and nothing about rifles on the UPS website. Please let me know your experiences.
    Thanks

I've heard only certain locations accept firearms but can't find which atm. Also... According to the website they only can do overnight on handguns. If I have to do overnight air saver it'll still cost me $100................

you can just box it up and ship it directly to the manufacturer yourself. YOu do not need to use an FFL to ship it, since it is going to an FFL. I would not use the original gun box as the outer box if it indicates that it is a gun. You can ship USPS, UPS, or Fedex.

AFAIK, UPS and Fedex allow for ground shipping of long guns. They have that overnight rule for handguns since they can't prevent their employees from stealing the handguns. By shipping air, it gives the employees less oportunity to steal.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I concur with above posters. Long guns can go ground via UPS or FedEx to an FFL. Make sure the shipping box has no graphics or language indicating the contents. No need to mention anything to the shipper.

If shipping with UPS, you need to go to the local main UPS hub center, you can't use the UPS stores. They will not accept it if they know what it is (they will ask, or they can work it out from the company name on the shipping address). If you are shipping to eg. Century Arms International, only put CAI.

When the manufacturer is ready with the repair or replacement, they will ship back directly to you.

            Hypothetically:

If the part that needs replacement is a receiver with a different serial number, will they still ship a rifle back to me direct or will they have to do the "destroy the old receiver, machine a new one with the same S/N" gag?
