There was just a post about painting an AR bright pink. Reminded me of something, another reason why CA > NY/NYC.
Out here - painting your gun bright colors like that would be a felony. Toy guns are required to be painted bright colors, and it's a felony to paint a real gun to look like a toy gun.
Even saw an Ad about this on the subway the other day.

Yes, we have ads on the public transit system reminding you how royally screwed you are if you're a gun owner.
Meanwhile - while walking through Penn Station the other day - I noticed some of the "Security". Not sure who they were, but it wasn't regular NYPD. Some sort of military i would guess based on the digi-print camo, lack of riot gear and tacticool gear and plain jane m-16 style rifle (versus the M4s and full on urban combat getup the NYPD carries - see below). The thing that stuck out about this - was the fact that this 19 year old looking kid was standing in the middle of the hallway, rifle in hand, and finger on the trigger. Muzzle pointed about 45 degrees towards the ground (just enough to richocet up into the crowd if he let one off). One thing i'll give the NYPD goons credit for - i've never felt their handling skills were lacking. Always pointed in a safe direction, never fondling or handling, fingers away from the trigger. This guy - not so much. Never wanted to yell at somebody for their gun handling more in my life. Didn't think that was going to end too well though.

And you think you live in a police state?
