From what I know, standard issue is G22, but they are moving towards G23. G21 and Springfield is for HRT and SWAT

I found these two links so I thought I'd share em:

      1) somewhat disappointing article claiming that the TRP is still being handmade to correct deficiencies for the FBI's H.R.T

      2) unrelated but totally amazing glock 21 'torture test' ; I've never seen anything like it.

I've still got my eyes on a para 1911 chambered in .40SW.
it isn't the price...although the Springfield Professional that the SWAT uses is pricey...but the 1911 isn't an ideal general issue duty gun.

you might want to give it some serious thought before committing to a Para 1911 chambered in .40

        1. while the FBI HRT did use the Para-Ord at one time, they gave them up for the Springfield Profressional
        2. Para-Ord durability is hit and miss
        3. the factory OAL .40 round chambered in a 1911 is problematic...that's why they are loaded long for competition

Regular agents have a choice of .40SW Glocks. Some are issued the Springfield Professional with a serial number starting with "FBI"

Since the early-2000, FBI agents have been issued either a .40S&W Glock 22 or .40S&W Glock 23. Agents got to choose between the two.
The .40S&W Glocks replaced the 9x19mm SIG P-226 and P-228, which were the previous standard issue sidearm.
In addition to the issued sidearms, FBI agents also have a list of approved caliber/handguns they can also carry.

FBI SWAT & HRT agents are issued .45ACP Springfield Armory 1911s.
A FBI SWAT agent let me handle/examine/drool over his Springfield Armory 1911. It was marked Bureau Model and the serial number was FBI00xx.

The Springfield TRP is not the same as the Professional model.

A friend of mine and a regular shooting buddy is an FBI firearms instructor and former SWAT team member.

They indeed use the Glock for everyday but use the S/A for the SWAT and HRT guys.

The S/A guns had many barrel failures sheared off the lug. They now use a ramped barrel and have elimited the failures. They also hired one of the Smiths away from S/A and he now works at Quantico.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

this is correct. the Professional comes out of the Custom Shop, while the TRP is a production item

FBI traisitioned to the Glock 22. Those with Sig P226s that haven't been sent to the armorer (which would have resulted in a mandatory swap to the Glock) have been allowed to keep theirs, though those are few and far between.

was that in addition to having Steve Nastoff help them keep the Springfields running?

i thought it was somewhat telling that one of the things they changed was moving away from the Wilson 47D mag to the Metalform mags

There are tons of different groups within the FBI running different guns.

The SA/PRO was made for the FBI HRT teams. Each member has 2.

                              From answers.com

Firearms are issued in the 4th to 6th week of the FBI Academy. New agents are issued either a Glock 22 or 23, depending on inventory in stock, their preference, and input from their Primary Firearms Instructor. Some trainees are issued a Glock 17 or 19, if they are experiencing issues with recoil from the .40 caliber round. Agents with more time on the job might still carry issued Sig Sauer 226's or 228's, and some have privately owned 226's and 229's. Mandatory transition to the Glock will be enforced shortly. Privately owned Glock 21's, 26's and 27's, are also authorized. The Springfield Professional model, a single action .45 caliber pistol, is issued to specialty units such as SWAT and protection details.

I have a Pro and a friend of mine has several and I have not seen any Pro's with a ramped barrel.
