    Weird Sleeping Issue

Wonder if any of you other paranoid gun-nuts have experienced this.

Recently I have been waking up in the dead of night (3:00am or so) with this terrifying and very palpable feeling that there is someone in the room with me. I didn't wake up from a nightmare or anything. I grab my shotgun, turn on the flashlight and find myself staring at an empty room ......

The first time I just brushed it off as a nightmare, but it happened for the third time last night, I can't describe just how SURE I am of someone else being there....

so, have I lost my marbles?

+1 on the dog; if the dog is large and selfish there won't be room for you in your own bed; have dog sleep at foot of bed. good luck....

            Ghosts? Boogin's?
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

Some idiots are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything

Of course you realize all good horror movies start this way.
First: the "omg something is in here with me..." *lights* "nope!"
Next: "Guys, something was in the room with me." (or in this case Calguns is informed)
Followed by: "Dude, you're nuts. Don't sleep, clowns will get you." (more jokes)
Finally: "OMG CLOWNS ARE EATING MY FACE." (They mostly come at night...mostly...)

              Good luck with all that!

Premonition. It's your instinct telling you that something is wrong or may go wrong. Stay vigilant because the one time you are complacent, something will happen... Or get a dog, that helps.

Sleep with a bright night light on or leave the hallway, etc. light on.

P.S..........Dog(s) are the best alarm ever made.

It's just the after-effects of the aliens returning you to your bed.

Seriously, analyze the timing and you living situation. Apartment? Townhome or condo? Could it be a neighbor with a night job coming home? Is it weekends or weeknights mostly? Is it within 30 minutes of a previous event?

My guess is that you may be hearing something that wakes you up. A loud car driving by, a neighbor coming in late, something like that. If they all occur between say, 2:40 and 3:20am, you might want to set an alarm to wake you up earlier so you can sit and listen.

                          Another reason may be physical/biological/medical.
Funny, but about 20 some years ago, a friend had a car accident and had extensive dental work done. One night he scared his wife insisting that he could hear "Mexicans" talking... in their 2nd floor bedroom. As it turned out, his dental work was picking up signals from a Spanish radio station and bone conduction let him hear it.

Much more likely are allergies, excess weight or sleep apnea causing difficulty breathing. A friend had this problem and when his breathing was difficult he'd dream he was caught in a confined space and wake with a start.
