    Good knife shop?

I guess this is as good a place as any to ask...

Looking for a knife shop in/around OC county area that has a large selection, decent prices and something other than only tacticool knives. Looking for someting for a SASS rig. Tried Walker '47 and they have almost nothing in knife selection, i was very dissappointed.(they seriously had 5 knives, all of which were big monster bowie style blades) Looking for a small (3-5") fixed blade black wood handle with black leather sheath. Tried other knife shops in the malls and sporting good stores but no body seems to carry anything but spyderco "operator" style knifes....getting kind of old.

However, I was looking for something local, like an actual shop I could walk into.

I haven't found "just" a knife shop yet, but Fowlers and Stockade has a decent knife selection.

Plaza Cutlery in South Coast carries high end knives as well. They have Chris Reeves, Strider, WH, and such as well as the basic BM and Spydercos.

All places listed are way overpriced, but this is California.

not sure if they have a shop or not but for internet orders you could try:

I have never bought anything online from them, only in person when they showed up at the cow palace shows. not the greatest of prices but they have a large selection.

Best prices I find are at gun shows like oso grande who sets up there. Cutlery stores like at mall of orange or Cerritos mall are overpriced but they do good sharpening. Turners also sells knives, an occasional sale price can be good.

I went to the knife shop in the Cerritos mall but they were over priced and didnt have what I was looking for. I have my share of KA-BARs and tacticool folders already. But even price is becoming less of factor for me.

There's a knife store at the Arcadia Mall (a Westfield shopping center) that is pretty well stocked.. SOGs.. Spydercos.. Benchmades.. custom makers. I wouldn't buy from there because of price, but it's a great place to look. Sales staff has been awesome the times i've gone. The dude behind the counter saw the CLIP of my Spyderco Bob Lum folder (was in my pocket) and knew exactly what it was. I was impressed.

My wife worked there. Advanced Cutlery

Yeh you can beat their prices on the internet, but you can also inspect what you are buying first. No surprises in the post. They do great sharpening. Got my straight edge razors and knives sharpened there recently. The cousin store, I beleive is in Cerritos Mall

I am not sure but you may be able to negotiate instead of buying elsewhere.

Nordic Knives has a store in Solvang as well. Their show is slanted more toward custom makers, but why not check out both at the same time? Make a nice day trip from the OC.

Fowler's was the hot ticket. Found what I was looking for there. I never noticed what a great selection of knives they have there! Whenever I'm in there I am usaully to busy figuring out a new way to max out my credit card on a gun purchase to notice the blades. I was very impressed.

                              +1 for Fowler's!
