What is Cometchat

I have something call CometChat attached to the Calguns.net site and it is really messing up the site. What is it and how do I get rid of it

It's the chat "feature" that comes with the VBulletin 1.1 interface. You can get rid of it by switching back to the 1.0 interface. There's several threads about this in the "Announcements & Suggestions" forum.

Black_Talon, thank you. The 1.1 just made the process of navigating the calgun site a "ROYAL PAIN IN THE ***". I was ready to pull my hair out!

After 6 months of Active Duty, I'm finally back home and getting things sorted out. I log onto calguns, and there's this darn chat script thing on the bottom of the page that takes frekking forEVER to redraw everytime I click to scroll up or down. Calguns.net is nearly un-useable now. It took me 20 minutes just to do a search, to find this thread, and another 10 minutes to scroll down here to make this one post.

Unless I find a computer that doesn't get screwed up and ungodly slow with this chat thing on it so that I can log in and find a way to disable it, then I'd be faced with some several (6-20) hour task trying to find out how to turn it off.

Other than just reading the forums without logging in... I'd just have to give up on Calguns.net all together. I have a bunch of PMs in my inbox, but it took so long just to view one, I'm not even going to try to look or respond to the others... What should have taken me a matter of seconds is taking well over 15 minutes. It's freaking crazy!

I installed Adblock Plus for Firefox, then went to Tools -> Adblock Plus Preferences, Add Filter, and made a new rule for "*cometchatjs.php" (no quotes).

I figure that the 1.0 theme will go away someday, so I might as well find a way to live with 1.1+.
