    My Reccuring Gun Dreams

I am 41 yrs old. Ever since I was about 18 I have had reccuring dreams that all follow the same theme.

I am either at home or somewhere indoors and someone is breaking into my house or inside and I am hiding in a room. I know I have firearms and I go to get them to defend myself. I can hear the person getting closer. I am scared because I know they are coming to harm me. I reach my handgun or rifle and I cant get it loaded !!! The person is getting closer and I am getting more and more panicked. For some reason I can never get the firearm loaded. Either the bullets wont fit into my revolver or I cant get the bullets out of the box to load it or I cant find the bullets.

Finally, just as the person is going to break down my door I panic and wake up sweating with my heart pounding and racing.

I would say I have these dreams about once a month at least.

Maybe you should start keeping your gun loaded.

Sounds like you have some looming situation that needs to be taken care of in your REAL life.

Sounds like a classic anxiety dream. Doesn't really have anything to do with guns or real life threats, that's just the manifestation.

A similar dream might be to realize that you're signed up to take a class, but you forgot to go until the end of the semester, and it's time to take the final, but now you can't find the classroom.

They also frequently involve being chased by something and having things that might help you get away not work.

Having a dream where your teeth are loose, or falling out is another very common one.

Just the mind trying to order the conscious and unconscious world. If you read up on them and see how common they are, that might help you to understand the underlying forces behind yours.

Dude! I have a similar dream....had it for like 20 years....it goes like this....

**** is hitting the fan. Everyone in the house is panicking.....I open a closet, there's an arsenal in there...tons of guns...I throw some on, load them up...

I go out to face the threat....sometimes it's bad guys, sometimes it's monsters, sometimes just a faceless enemy....

I see the enemy....I line up the sights....pull the trigger.....

And nothing happens. The guns never work!!!! They always misfire, or jam, or something.

I swear, I've had this dream forever and until you started this thread I never really acknowledged it......Whoa!!!!! freaky!

I want to get rid of it!

Sounds like this might be a fairly common thing. I believe my dreams are related to anxiety in my life and maybe feelings of lack on control.

I have had similar dreams as well with the trigger not working. The few people I've discussed this with say it points to a feeling that you are no longer in control of your real life. This also may coincide with dreams of your teeth falling out.

I'll tell you one thing...when things are going well for me...I'm slaying bodies with a grin from ear to ear full of pearly whites (in my dreams of course)

oh, you have revolvers; start buying semi autos and see if that helps; i would recommend w german sigs as they are very dependable. and don't buy aftermarket magazines....

Mine went like this.Bad guys or sometimes coyotes are surrounding Me.I draw to firebut the trigger is stuck and I pull so hard on the trigger that the sights move off target.I relax and try again but the trigger won't budge.
Then one time the trigger actually worked.I have not had one of these dreams since.

Ditto. I used to have the same kinds of dreams as the OP, until one night I had a dream where everything worked the way it was supposed to. Never had that dream again.

Still have dreams about finding out I signed up for a class and forgot about it until finals week, though.

My dominant dream about guns finds me sitting in a train station with an Israeli Mauser in my lap; everything else I have has broken or been captured long ago. I can see the smoke from the train but I don't want to get on because I know it means shooting and being shot at further down the line.
