AR-15 5.56 mag question

i was wondering if anyone makes a 20 or 30 round magazine that only holds 10 rounds... i live in California, so 10rds is the limit, but in the Feb 2010 issue of Guns & Ammo, "The Book of The AR-15", page 138 there is a story on "Modern Musketry: The Art of the SDM" and on page 142 it shows a picture of a soldier firing from a "magazine supported Prone" it looks to me like this mag is a 30 round clip or at least a 20.... i cant buy anything but 10rnd mags here in Cali, and i was just wondering if there was a way to practice this position without moving out of California lol!!

Ah, welcome to CalGuns... before people jump on you for not using the search function, allow me to help. Yes, you can buy 20 or 30 round magazines blocked to only 10 rounds, many people have them in the For Sale section on here, or vendors such as Rifle Gear sell them (actually most of the site sponsors above probably carry them.) And, btw, they aren't called clips. Hope this helps, and again, welcome to the forum!

What you want are 10/20 or 10/30 mags. Hi cap rebuild kits are illegal to assemble into Hi cap (20 or 30 rnd) mags, But not illegal to assemble into 10 round mags.
Tutorials on how to rivet them correctly are stickied in the in gunsmithing forum.
NOTE: This is all Ca. political BS since the standard capacity of an AR mag IS 30 rounds.

Jeese, Someone that knows the difference? I hate when someone calls a magazine a clip. I watch for the barrel sweep next.
