If you are handed a mag with ammo in it make sure to unload it to make sure it's the correct ammo! Lesson I learned the other day. A buddy of mine(let's call him WTF!) handed me an AR mag with a couple of rounds in it. I look at them they were .223. So I topped it off and start shooting. I shoot 9 rounds off and notice something isn't right. I turned the rifle on it's side and notice the round didn't even chamber.
Thinking to myself, "That' weird? Wait it looks funny, it's kinda fat for a .223. Oh, that's why it looks funny for a .223 it's a 7.62 X 39"
I look over at WTF! and say, "Dude why would you put a 7.62 then .223's on top of it in your AR mag?"
"I da know."
But then I thought to myself, "You idiot, why would you put a mag in your gun without checking each round?"
I'm sure glad it didn't go off for some reason. Could it have? What kind of damage could have been done? I've had a couple of .22 blow out the case, but nothing bigger then that.
