    ordering my upper today

    Ok
Finally ordering my upper kit today. Should I get the 16 inch heavy bull barrel or the 20 inch heavy bull barrel. Speaking to a few people they said the 24 inch bull is too heavy
Gun is gonna be a regular shooter with the option of a more accurate rifle later on but I might as well have a better barrel to start with.
Price between the kits is 10$ increments. starting at 449$. 50$ more for chromed chamber and bore

It really depends on how you plan on using the rifle.

If it is going to be primarily a range or bench gun, then either the 20 or 24 inch upper would be fine.

If you plan on carrying it for any significant length of time, you'd probably be better off with the 16 inch upper.

A good 16 inch upper will be plenty accurate out to at least 400+ yards (with the right ammo). The 20 or 24 inch uppers would give you higher velocity and more effective range (before the round drops below supersonic speed and become unstable/inaccurate).

What do you want to do? 3-gun? then 16" for sure. Plinking? Any off-hand time? If no, then 20", if there'll be some off hand shooting, then 16". 20" gives you better ballistics but you don't care about accuracy. Also, since you aren't going for accuracy, you should go for chrome lined barrel.

Would you be interested in a match grade stainless 20" barrel? Complete upper w/ bolt/carrier; gently used by me. RRA 1:8 NM A2 for $450 + shipping?

Im basically getting it as a plinker for now. if I ever start reloading Ill worry about pinpoint accuracy. Right now If i can hit 400 yards with off the shelf ammo Ill be happy. Im leaning towards a 20 inch cause I can always pick up a lightweight barrel and swap them if i feel the need to do so.
Thanx for the help guys. Im gonna order it tomorrow or next day.

PM sent to socal and j1133

I like these uppers from Rock River. There not as heavy as a bull barrel but they still got the heft. Stainless Wilson barrels.. >> http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.c...ategory_id=271

20", balanced between too heavy and too shoot. It will also benefit better in the long range accuracy department.

Blackthorne gun sales. my personal impressions so far.

So I ended up getting the upper. it came in today. I ordered it and the guy kept in touch with me whenever I emailed him. he missed the truck for the shipping day but he emailed and said its going on the next day. got here at the right time with no problems
                        Ok now for the upper

Got the box opened it. Everything inside looked fine. The packaging is a little sorry as far as packing it was a pretty crappy job. Seriously bro spend some money on some bubble wrap . its not that expensive and it will go a long ways making customers happy. The stock was slightly scuffed up on the butt stock no big deal there were no cuts or gouges. All the parts were there the upper was oiled up and has the little cardboard fuzzies ( hence my suggestion for bubble wrap) other than that everything was fine. Checked it out for damage and there was no damage everything lined up when I put the lower and upper together. I paid 470$ for this upper shipped to my house. 20 inch bull barrel stainless steel free floating hand guard kit.
I read some bad reviews about these guys but so far everything I read vs. what I experienced has been the exact opposite. Im gonna take it out shooting one of these days and Ill update n the performance of the rifle. Heres a pic for anyone who is curious

something about a 20" bull barrel with a collapsible stock just doesnt seem right.

Hopefully yours isnt a bust, plenty of people have crap experiences with Blackthorn/Hesse/Vulcan. I guess if you dont like it or its bad you can always sell it to an unsuspecting newbie.

20" stainless HBAR profile is as heavy as anyone really needs unless it is a dedicated bench gun the 24" bull all they way !

i cant really see it beoing bad. I looked inside the barrel all shiny good rifling the chamfer hole at the tip of the barrel is clean and the chamber looks good. I really hope I have a good experience. As for selling it to a newbie if I do sell it Ill disclose if there is anything wrong with it. If its something minor and can be fixed then ill fix it. if it cant I always can go back and ship it back to him and call my CC and dispute the fees.

I bought the kit so it came with a regular non collapsible stock also actually it came with everything but the lower receiver so i got a bunch of extra parts I don't really think Ill ever need. I'm sort of torn about which one to use. the collapsible one has the tactical "cool" factor but I don't really care for it. I may try the other stock
